Child Health focuses on the assessment and management of common paediatric presentations encountered in primary care. Students explore the febrile child, respiratory and abdominal conditions, childhood rashes, behavioural problems and childhood emergencies. The module is particularly relevant to Caribbean primary-care settings, where frontline practitioners often provide first-contact care for children and must distinguish routine presentations from conditions requiring urgent escalation.
This module addresses the broad range of adult conditions that commonly present in family and primary care. It considers disorders across the body's major systems as well as common emergencies encountered in adult medicine. The emphasis on clinical recognition, diagnosis, treatment and referral makes the module highly applicable to Caribbean practitioners managing patients across community clinics, general practice and primary-care facilities.
The Mental Health module expands the family physician's ability to recognise and manage common mental-health presentations within primary care. Content includes low mood, delirium and dementia, eating disorders and schizoaffective disorders, together with approaches to wellbeing and psychological interventions. Entry Requirements
Since our courses are conducted entirely online, they are accessible to both UK and international registered healthcare professionals.
Applicants will typically hold a first degree or equivalent (including international qualifications) in a relevant professional healthcare field, such as a medical or nursing degree.
Registered healthcare professionals without these recognised qualifications will be considered on an individual basis and a wide range of prior experience may be taken into account. In some cases, applicants may be asked to submit a piece of work for assessment in order to confirm that they are able to work comfortably at postgraduate level, and demonstrate the requisite clinical and professional knowledge.
