Online Global Doctor of Business Administration (Global DBA)
The Swiss School of Business and Management Geneva (SSBM Geneva) offers the Online Global Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), a 24-month, 120-ECTS professional doctorate designed for experienced professionals who want to advance to the highest levels of business leadership, strategic management, research, and organizational transformation. Delivered entirely online in English, the programme focuses on Innovation & Disruption, Leadership, and Executive Management, while addressing some of the most important challenges facing modern organizations—including artificial intelligence, digital transformation, data disruption, robotics, emerging technologies, automation, evolving workforce capabilities, and ethical leadership. For Caribbean professionals, the programme provides an opportunity to earn a Swiss-based doctoral qualification without leaving the Caribbean or interrupting an established career. SSBM Geneva states that it is accredited by ACBSP and certified by EduQua, and the DBA is delivered by SSBM Geneva in Switzerland.
The Online Global DBA is particularly well suited to Caribbean professionals who are already making strategic decisions within businesses, government agencies, financial institutions, educational institutions, healthcare organizations, tourism enterprises, technology companies, NGOs, and other organizations. Its flexible online structure combines asynchronous learning with live Q&A sessions, seminars, webinars, guest lectures, and opportunities for interaction with professors and peers, making it possible to pursue doctoral studies while continuing to work and meet professional and family commitments. Caribbean students can also use the research component of the DBA to investigate issues directly relevant to the region—including digital transformation, tourism competitiveness, entrepreneurship, public-sector modernization, climate resilience, financial services, healthcare management, education, cybersecurity, organizational leadership, and sustainable economic development. With access to SSBM's online learning environment, e-library, EBSCO research resources, S-Connect networking, a DBA mentor and personal advisor, the programme provides a pathway for Caribbean executives to strengthen their international profile while applying doctoral-level research and evidence-based management to challenges within their own countries and organizations.

Programme Highlights
This foundational doctoral module develops the student's understanding of how rigorous academic and applied business research is designed and conducted. Students develop the ability to formulate research questions, understand research design, evaluate scholarly sources and establish an appropriate methodology for investigating complex organizational and management issues. For Caribbean professionals, this provides an important foundation for researching practical challenges affecting businesses, governments and institutions across the region.
Research Methodology II builds on the first methodology course and takes students deeper into the processes required to undertake doctoral-level research. The module strengthens students' ability to select appropriate research approaches, evaluate evidence and develop a rigorous framework for their doctoral investigation. This is particularly valuable for professionals who want their research to produce credible findings that can inform organizational strategy and policy.
The Research Proposal component is where the student's professional interests begin to develop into a formal doctoral research project. Students establish the research problem, objectives, questions and methodology that will guide their subsequent thesis work. Caribbean professionals can use this stage to develop research around issues such as tourism, entrepreneurship, financial services, digital transformation, healthcare, education, climate resilience or public-sector leadership.
Advanced Research Methods provides additional preparation for students who want to deepen their methodological capabilities. It supports more sophisticated approaches to collecting, evaluating and interpreting evidence and can be especially useful for professionals undertaking research involving complex organizational, market or management questions.
The doctoral thesis is the central research component of the second year of the programme. Students undertake original research that contributes to knowledge and/or professional practice in their chosen area. For Caribbean professionals, this creates an opportunity to examine a significant regional or organizational challenge in depth and develop evidence-based recommendations that can have practical value beyond the classroom.
Sustainability
The Sustainability elective explores how organizations can integrate environmental, social and economic considerations into business strategy and decision-making. This is particularly relevant to Caribbean professionals because island economies face distinctive challenges involving climate change, tourism sustainability, energy, environmental management, resilience and responsible economic development.
AI for Managers
AI for Managers focuses on the implications and applications of artificial intelligence from a managerial and strategic perspective. Rather than treating AI solely as a technical subject, the course helps leaders consider how emerging technologies can affect business models, decision-making, workforce capabilities, productivity and organizational competitiveness. This is highly relevant to Caribbean organizations navigating digital transformation.
Strategic Corporate Culture
This module examines the relationship between organizational culture and strategic performance. Students explore how leaders can develop cultures that support innovation, employee engagement, ethical decision-making and organizational effectiveness. It is especially relevant to Caribbean managers seeking to strengthen organizational performance while navigating diverse workforces and changing business environments.
Digital Business Acceleration
Digital Business Acceleration addresses the strategic use of digital technologies to transform organizations and accelerate business growth. Students can apply these concepts to Caribbean sectors such as tourism, financial services, telecommunications, retail, education and government, where digital transformation is increasingly central to competitiveness and service delivery.
Corporate Security and Business Intelligence
This elective examines how organizations can use security practices and business intelligence to better understand risks, information and competitive environments. The subject has particular relevance to Caribbean businesses and public institutions operating in an increasingly data-driven environment where cybersecurity, information protection, intelligence and risk management are becoming strategic priorities.
Innovation and Change Management
Innovation and Change Management focuses on the leadership and organizational processes required to introduce new ideas, technologies, products and ways of working. For Caribbean professionals, this is especially valuable in economies where organizations must continually adapt to technological change, global competition, shifting consumer expectations and economic disruption.
Financial Management
Financial Management develops advanced understanding of financial decision-making within organizations. Professionals can apply these concepts to budgeting, investment, financial strategy, business growth and organizational sustainability. It is relevant across Caribbean industries, particularly banking, tourism, entrepreneurship, government, professional services and corporate management.
Business English
Business English supports effective professional communication in an international business environment. For Caribbean professionals working across borders, the ability to communicate complex business ideas clearly in written, verbal and professional contexts is an important component of international leadership.
Business IT
Business IT explores the relationship between information technology and organizational performance. The module is particularly relevant to managers who need to understand how technology can support operational efficiency, decision-making, innovation and business transformation without necessarily becoming technical IT specialists.
Data Visualization and Storytelling with Data
This elective focuses on transforming data into clear, meaningful and persuasive business insights. Professionals learn to communicate information in ways that support executive decision-making and stakeholder engagement. This capability is increasingly important for Caribbean organizations seeking to use data more effectively in areas such as tourism, finance, government, marketing, healthcare and business development.
Students select two elective courses from the available list, with the option of completing a final project/assignment for additional ECTS points.
