The University of Essex Online’s Project Analytics programme is a 13-week, part-time online professional course designed to help learners understand how data and analytics are transforming the way projects are planned, managed and delivered. Awarded by the University of Essex, the course carries 20 academic credits at postgraduate level and introduces students to project analytics, statistical analysis, data visualisation, predictive and prescriptive analytics, data mining, decision-making, risk and performance monitoring, and the role of the Project Management Office (PMO). For Caribbean students, this is an opportunity to develop highly relevant digital and project-management capabilities without leaving the region or interrupting employment. The University of Essex is a UK Government-recognised university with degree-awarding powers and is regulated by the UK Office for Students; University of Essex Online confirms that its programmes are awarded by the University of Essex. The University was also ranked #12 in the Guardian University Guide 2026.
For Caribbean students, Project Analytics offers a practical way to build skills that can be applied across the region’s rapidly changing economies. Whether you are working in tourism and hospitality, construction, infrastructure, banking and finance, telecommunications, energy, healthcare, government, logistics, manufacturing or disaster resilience, organisations increasingly need professionals who can use data to make better project decisions, manage costs and schedules, identify risks and improve performance. The programme is particularly attractive because it can be completed online while students continue working and managing family and professional responsibilities. Students receive 24/7 access to learning materials and the eLibrary, participate in tutor-led Q&A sessions and join a global learning community spanning more than 140 countries. Most importantly, successful completion can provide a pathway into the University of Essex Online’s PG Cert Project Management, PG Dip Project Management or MSc Project Management, without additional entry requirements

Programme Highlights
This module establishes the foundation for understanding how analytics can be applied to project management. Students explore how organisations use project data to understand project performance, support planning and improve decision-making. For Caribbean organisations managing complex projects with limited resources, these capabilities can provide a stronger foundation for evidence-based project management.
Students are introduced to the developing role of automated and autonomous analytics in project environments. This area helps learners understand how technology can support the collection, analysis and interpretation of project information, preparing them for workplaces increasingly influenced by automation, artificial intelligence and advanced analytics.
Effective project management depends on the ability to make timely and informed decisions. Students examine how analytical information can support decision-making by helping professionals evaluate alternatives, identify patterns and assess potential outcomes relating to project costs, schedules, resources and risks.
This area examines the relationship between the Project Management Office, project managers and data specialists. Students gain an understanding of how organisations can use structured project information and analytical expertise to strengthen project governance, reporting, oversight and strategic decision-making.
Statistics provides an important foundation for interpreting project information. Students develop an understanding of statistical concepts that can be applied to project data, helping them identify patterns, understand variation and make more meaningful interpretations of project performance.
Data visualisation focuses on communicating complex information in a clear and accessible way. Students learn how visual representations of project data can help managers and stakeholders understand trends, performance indicators, risks and results, supporting more effective communication and decision-making.
Students explore statistical measures that can be used to analyse and interpret project data. These techniques help professionals understand performance, variation and patterns within datasets and provide a stronger quantitative foundation for monitoring and evaluating projects.
Predictive analytics focuses on using available data to anticipate potential future outcomes. Within project environments, these techniques can support forward-looking assessments of costs, schedules, risks and performance, allowing project professionals to identify potential issues before they become major challenges.
Students consider the ethical responsibilities associated with collecting, analysing and using data. This includes understanding the importance of responsible data use, transparency and appropriate interpretation when analytics are used to influence organisational and project decisions.
This learning area focuses on using data to monitor project performance while identifying risks and quality issues. These capabilities are particularly relevant to Caribbean sectors such as construction, tourism, infrastructure, healthcare, government and technology, where effective project monitoring can have a significant impact on successful outcomes.
Data mining introduces approaches for identifying useful information and patterns within datasets. As Caribbean organisations continue to digitise their operations, professionals who can extract meaningful insights from organisational and project data can contribute significantly to improved planning, performance and decision-making.
Prescriptive analytics moves beyond understanding what happened or predicting what may happen to considering what action should be taken. Students explore approaches that can support structured decision-making where projects involve competing priorities, constraints and multiple possible solutions.
