This module focuses directly on the leadership challenges associated with complex healthcare environments. Students explore leadership theories, models and practical tools while developing their own leadership style and examining performance management, communication, teamwork, reflection and organisational effectiveness. This is especially relevant to Caribbean healthcare professionals preparing to move from clinical or technical roles into hospital, ministry, health authority or health-service leadership. The module is also aligned with the criteria for the CMI Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management and Leadership Practice.
Strategic Healthcare Management develops the managerial capabilities required to make informed decisions in healthcare organisations. Students examine management theories, workforce and financial resource management, healthcare interventions and risk assessment. For Caribbean organisations operating under resource constraints, the module offers a strong framework for thinking about resource allocation, workforce planning, financial sustainability, intervention design and strategic decision-making.
